Okay, I was trying to start Hard Eight, but the Stephanie Laurens is not just calling my name but screaming at me. I'm in pause with the Plum series until I read Mastered by Love. I can handle this book. Not so sure I can handle the title, though.

Hot Six:

Joyce Bernhardt is a fungus. When we were in kindergarten together she used to spit in my milk carton. When we were in hight school she started rumors and took secret photos in the girls' locker room. And before the ink had even dried on my marriage cirtificate I found her bare-assed with my husband (now my ex-husband) on my brand-new dining room table.
Anthrax was too good for Joyce.

"You just get out of bed?" he asked.
I glanced down. "You mean the nightshirt?"
"The nightshirt, the hair...the stupor."
"You're the reason for the stupor."
"Yeah," Ranger said. "I get tthat a lot. I cause stupor in women."

"The good news is Bob didn't eat the whole cake," Grandma said. "The bad news is he licked the icing offone side."
Without missing a beat, my mother took a butter knife out of the silverware drawer, scooped some icing off the top of the cake, smeared the icing on the side Bob had licked clean, and sprinked coconut all around the cake.
"Been a long time since we had a coconut cake," Grandma said. "It looks real pretty."
My mother put the cake on top of the refregerator, out of Bob's reach. "When you were little you used to lick the icing off all the time," she said to me. "We had a lot of coconut cakes."

Lula was waiting on her stoop when I drove up. She was descreetly dressed in poison green spandex pants and a shocking pink faux-fur jacket. You could stand her on a corner, in a fog, at midnight, and she'd be visible for three miles.

Rex stuck his head out, twitched his whiskers, and blinked his black bead eyes at me.
"Hey, Rex!" I said. "How's it going?"
The whisker-twitching stopped for a microsecond, and then Rex retreated under the bedding. It might now seem like much to the casual observer, but in terms of hansters, that was a terrific welcome, too.

Seven Up:

I read on a bathroom stall door once that Vinnie humps like a ferret. I'm not sure what that means, but it seems reasonable since Vinnie looks like a ferret.

I poured out a cauldron of dog crunchies...

I peeled off my (wet) clothes the minute Benny and Ziggy left. Rex was running on his wheel, occasionally pausing to watch me, not understanding the concept of rain. Sometimes he sat under his water bottle and it dripped on his head, but mostly his experience with weather was limited.

I know it. I have the book sitting right in front of me to add a few more quotes for 7. Problem is, glasses on, glasses off. It's a struggle to read the text with the book sitting in my lap. I mean that's really far away! Or is it just me?

I've picked up Hard Eight again!

Thanks for waiting for me. I'm almost finished with Hard Eight and will be ready for Sugar Plums for the upcoming week. Let's try to remember to bring in lengthy spoilers for it, cause Haidee doesn't have any of the inbetweens.

I finished 8 last night.


Forgot about that stupid rabbit and that Steph's mom runs him to the ground. Also that Steph's sis, Valerie, saves her from that terrible torture. That Morelli and Ranger have this moment of male bonding after Steph is hurt that one of them will take care of the situation and one will take Steph home. Ranger kills for Steph and Morelli knows.

Love that Albert has joined the show. He's too funny. She sure does have a knack for picking up strays, doesn't she?

Diesel. Mmmmm...

So often in this series somewhere is always a, "are you a Morelli or Ranger fan". What's up with leaving Diesel out of this mix???

Diesel would absolutely be my pick!
