Her little grand-daughter found them in a glass and thought Grandma Mazur was going to throw them away. So, she took them for her stuffed dinosaur and with a magic marker put flowers, stars and rainbows on the teeth. Honestly, I had to put the book down I was laughing so hard. Grandma's new boyfriend turns out to be the dude that Diesel has been after. He's one of those super humans that causes mayhem that Diesel then has to find and return to wherever they keep the crazies. Aww... I had totally forgotten that Great Grand-daughter, can't recall her name, Mary Alice?, has signs of being "superhuman". This makes total sense and I wonder if Steph falls into this catagory!? Hmmm... She still wanted to go to the viewing and has to be told not to smile while there. Lol, poor grandma. Okay I know I read the whole book but Teen I don't remember the part about the granddaughter being special. I loved the part where the tree goes up like the burning bush. That was in this one, right, or am I confusing it with another book? Kate

The tree along with Steph's car goes up in flames. Aww... I thought that was sad. Oh, and Lulu's does too! OOOH! And yes, maybe you mean also the Plum family tree with all the presents! I forgot about that! Can you even believe. Yes, Grandma smiles with those decorated teeth! I thought it was really sweet that nobody got upset with Mary Alice. They all seemed to take it in stride. About Mary Alice being "special". I had totally forgotten it too and it was a really quick mention. It's on one of the very last pages, Kate. My book, bottom of 162-163. Sandy Claws, Randy and elves show up with presents for everybody. Sandy Claws and Randy Briggs remained with the last box. It was the box with the golden bow, and Claws gave the box to Mary Alice. "I made this myself," he said. "Just for you. Keep it always. It's a special present for a very special person." Mary Alice opened the box and looked inside. "It's beautifiul," she said. It was a horse. Carved from curly cherry wood. Mary Alice held it in her hand. "It's warm," she said. I felt the horse. It was cool to my touch. I raised my eyebrows in question to Sandor. "A special present for a special person," he said to me. "A special person with special abilities?" He smiled. "There are signs." I've started To the Nines! But then again Stephanie and her grandmother are special too, but guess not in the same way. Yeah I meant the family tree with all the presents. So glad they had a Christmas miracle with presents coming there. I like this book, but I have to say that I think the in-betweens keep getting better and better. Kate

I'm enjoying To the Nines as well. It has one of my all time favorite Lulu scenes coming up towards the end. It's the scene with her handing from the fan! Gosh, I recall laughing so hard the first time I read it I thought for sure I broke something in myself. Her dialogue is genius, as always. Is this the book with the bacon diet? I love the bacon diet. There's a scene in Grumpy Old Men where Burgess Meridith plays one of their fathers. I don't know why I keep calling her Lulu, though. I'm more than half way thru with Nine. Lula has given up the veggie diet and has brought with her the new high protein diet. Cooler filled with chicken, leg of lamb, porkchops and bacon. Had a fried egg for breakfast. Gotta love it. I seem to need about a week and a half to get thru a full length and that's without reading something else. I like to read each word and not miss anything with this series Other series I sometimes skim parts, but not with Stephanie Plums. Thank you! I'm finished with Nine and for a change of pace, have picked up a paranormal for the weekend. Will be ready sometime this coming week for 10!
